FDI grows in first four months

Foreign direct investment rose in both newly-registered and disbursed capital during the first four months of the year, according to the Foreign Investment Agency. Over 260 new projects were licensed during the period, worth a combined US$5.6 billion, an increase of 58.5 per cent in capital but a drop of 19.6 per cent in the number of projects over the same period last year

Vietnam Plastics Export Revenues Fall 13% to US$802M in 2009

Vietnam exported US$802 million of plastics in 2009, down 13% from a year earlier, according to the Vietnam Plastics Association. The fall was caused by drops in exports to major markets such as Japan, the U.S., Germany, the Netherlands, Cambodia, the U.K.

Vietnam Cashew Export Up 12.2% to US$158M in Q1

Vietnam raked in US$158 million from exporting 30,000 tons of cashew nuts in the first quarter of 2010, up 12.2% in value despite a decrease of 4.3% in volume from a year earlier, the General Statistics Office estimated.
